Research Focus

Centre for Transfer of Biomedical Technologies is professionally orientated mainly on the following topics and fields of science according to the topics of each of our partner institutions, whom CTBT provides services of technology transfer and commercialization to.

University facilities in Hradec Kralove – University Hospital Hradec Králové, University of Hradec Kralove, Faculty of Military Health Sciences, University of Defence in Brno – are the high quality institutions with modern lab equipment and operational premises and experienced research teams. The fact that science is among the institutional priorities suggests a number of research projects supported by grants from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Czech Science Foundation, the Technology Agency, and a number of other projects funded by institutional and internal research grants.

Below are the main areas on which the research teams of each partner institutions focus:

University Hospital Hradec Králové

The research focuses on the whole process of many diseases / disorders: from bioindicators (biomarkers), and their detection by modern diagnostic methods through pharmacology and proteomics of new molecules in various fields of medicine. Experienced doctors develop and improve surgical instruments and other medical devices. University Hospital Hradec Králové carries out every year hundreds of drug clinical trials and medical device clinical tests.

University Hospital Hradec Králové focuses research mainly on the following areas:

  • Pharmacology
  • Psychiatry, especially neurodegenerative disorders
  • Tumour diseases
  • Diabetes and obesity
  • Nutraceuticals and personalized medicine
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Regenerative medicine

Research is focused by the interests of individual faculties and departments on humanities and technical fields.

Most research activities are concentrated on the following areas:

  • Information and communication technologies (software, hardware, Web applications, IoT, biomedical research tools, autonomous and multi-agent technologies, advanced detectors and analyzers in health care – ballistic cardiography)
  • Applied Science (biological indicators in the environment, synthetic chemicals – development of new compounds and their in silico and in vitro testing)
  • Functional foods and healthy nutrition (especially cereals)
  • History (archaeological research, digitization and archiving, social modeling, teaching aids)
  • Linguistics and Politics
  • Social work services

The research focuses mainly on military acute and preventive medicine:

  • Treatment of nerve gas intoxication (development of new antidotes and their testing)
  • Specific biosensors (eg. the detection of mycotoxins)
  • Decontamination and disinfection (based on micellar compounds)
  • Detection of radiation exposure (detection of cell damage)
  • Unique biomolecular markers (e.g. detection of Francisella Tularensis)
  • Vaccination (cholinergic anti-inflammatory mechanism, adjuvants)
